Better Than Beans Iron Rich Smoothie

This smoothie is a perfect balance of iron rich non-heme foods with vitamin C, making it ideal for your body to absorb all of it's beneficial nutrients and keep your iron levels up!

Makes 2 smoothies


  • 2 cups spinach or kale

  • 1 cup coconut milk (or other dairy free milk or coconut water)

  • I frozen, ripe banana

  • 3 small or 1 large orange(s)

  • 1/2 cup strawberries

  • 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed (optional)

  • 3-4 ice cubes if you want it really cold

  • 1 tablespoon cacao nibs (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon hemp seeds (optional)


  • Place the greens and milk in a blender and blend until liquified.

  • Add the banana, oranges, strawberries, ground flaxseeds, and ice. Blend.

  • Pour into jars or cups and top with cacao nibs and hemp seeds.

Keeps well in the fridge for 2-3 days.
